This service of Advent Lessons and Carols was created at St. John’s College, Cambridge to usher in the holy season of Advent. During this time we prepare for the birth of that babe lying in a manger in Bethlehem, and we prepare for His second coming to bring us to fulfillment.

As such, this liturgy of prayer, scripture, hymns and carols is focused on the development of the loving purposes of God which lead us to the arrival of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have not yet arrived at Christmas, but we eagerly anticipate it.
