The liturgy for the dead is an Easter liturgy.  It finds its meaning in the resurrection.
— The Book of Common Prayer

The Prayer Book reminds us that "the very love we have for each other in Christ brings deep sorrow when we are parted by death."

The clergy and the people of Christ Church offer condolences and prayers for families and individuals who experience the loss of a loved one. We are assured that in this life and the next, nothing can separate us from the love of God. Clergy are available for prayer, conversation, pastoral care, and the planning of a funeral.

If you have lost a loved one, we welcome you to celebrate their life at Christ Church and consider it an honor to support you in this difficult time. Whether a funeral or memorial service, we can help you gather with loved ones, express your grief, celebrate the life lived, and entrust the person to God’s care.

The person whose life is to be celebrated, or their survivors, do not have to be a member of Christ Chuch to have their funeral or memorial service here. We welcome everyone.

We recognize that in the days following a death it can feel overwhelming to put the details of a service together. Please feel free to call us or contact one of the parish clergy for assistance.

The Columbarium of the church - wherein the ashes of the dead, encased in urns, may be put as a final resting place - is located next to the church at the intersection of Sagamore Road and Kensington Road. Space is available in the Columbarium; please contact christchurch@ccbny.org for more information.
