Refugee Sunday

Please join us following the 10 am service on September 24th for an informal information session and coffee hour. While there will eventually be times for you to sign-up for concrete service opportunities, we hope as many people as possible will participate in the fellowship of coffee hour while we, as a community, learn more information about an issue dear to the hearts of many people at Christ Church. You’ve heard already, in e-mails and past announcements, about the good work that Hearts and Homes for Refugees (HHR) is doing in local communities. Stay after the service on Sunday, not only to learn more specifics about HHR, but also to lend your presence, learning, and thoughtful support to this cause. Your presence is a gift to all who care deeply about this issue, even if you aren’t yet ready to make a commitment yourself. Come enjoy refreshments and learn!

Advent Lessons & Carols

The long-standing Christ Church Bronxville traditional service of Lessons and Carols for Advent will take place on Sunday, December 4th This service of Advent Lessons and Carols was created at St. John’s College, Cambridge to usher in the holy season of Advent. During this time we prepare for the birth of that babe lying in a manger in Bethlehem, and we prepare for Christ’s second coming to bring us to fulfillment. As such, this liturgy of prayer, scripture, hymns and carols is focused on the development of the loving purposes of God which lead us to the arrival of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have not yet arrived at Christmas, but we eagerly anticipate it.

Faith Beyond Clichés

Fr. Kurt Gerhard is leading a five-part adult short series exploring the following phrases. While these clichés are supposed to make us feel better, or less uncomfortable, often they do the opposite and leave us doubting our faith. The Bible and our faith are too complex to boil down into one-liners and soundbites. Join us directly following the 9am summer services on the following Sundays:

June 19th - “Everything happens for a reason”

June 26th - “God doesn’t give us more than we can handle”

July 17th - “Love the sinner, hate the sin”

July 24th - “God helps those who help themselves”

July 31st - “But for the grace of God, go I”

Note: Each class is a standalone session. Feel free to pop in to one or to all!
